View Gunnison galleries

Gallery Crawl of Gunnison is held the first Friday of the month May through September. Participating galleries and specialty shops include Gunnison Arts Center, Gunnison Gallery, Horsefeathers, Johnson Building Gallery, Rather Be Creative, Rocky Mountain Frames and Stone Cold Tattoo and Gallery.

Food, drink and art will be at The Bean, Brick Cellar Wine Bar, Bowlz, Gunnison Brewery and Katie’s Cookery.

There is no admission charge for the gallery evenings. Events are sponsored in partnership with the Gunnison County Chamber of Commerce; call 970-641-1501.

Art in Crested Butte

ArtWalk Evening, Crested Butte Galleries and Studios, is held the last Thursday of the month from June through September.

The event is organized by Artists of the West Elks and features stops at Creekside Pottery, Ice Mountain Jewelry, Lucille Lucas Gallery, Paragon Gallery, Rendezvous Gallery and Framing, Rijks Family Gallery and Wolfotography. Light refreshments, music and on-site artists are featured at many of the locations.

Strings in the Mountains

Strings in the Mountains Music Festival 2006 Summer Concert season begins June 4 in Steamboat Springs with a free opening-day performance by Denver Young Artists Orchestra.

Community-oriented concerts are Tuesdays through June and include performances by Sean Costello, Three Bands of Bluegrass, Chris Daniels and the Kings, and Quartetto Gelato. The Friday-night “Different Tempo” series in July features Brent Rowan, Billy Dean, Linda Davis, BeauSoleil, Sophie Milman, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Jesse Cook. In August, performers include Jim Walker, Mike Garson and Rachel Price, Rodney Crowell and the Outsiders, Jake Shimabukuro and Asleep at the Wheel. Other events include the “Classical Music” series, the “Youth Concert” series and “Music on the Green” concerts. Tickets are on sale; stringsinthemountains.com or 970-879-5056.

Vail free concerts

The Budweiser Hot Summer Nights Concert Series kicks off June 13 at Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater in Vail. The free shows are scheduled at 6:30 p.m. every Tuesday from June 13 through Aug. 22. Visit vvf.org.
