Riverwalk Boat Season Opener

Pedal-boat fans can plunge feet first into the season April 29, when the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk opens the river for floating and boating with a street fair. The entertainment runs 11 a.m.-4 p.m.; the river’s driver-piloted excursion boats and pedal boats are open until 7 p.m. with free rides for the 12-and-under set.

But for a little extra insight into the 26 giant forms created by Arizona artist Robert Wick, pencil in a free guided tour, offered at 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays and on free days (the next one is May 1). Wick’s works sprout plants and express transcendent themes and will be in the gardens through Oct. 31. Wick himself shows up for a tour Aug. 13 ($26, nonmembers).
