The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs of the Central Hockey League held off a late Colorado Eagles rally to hold on for a 2-1 win in Game 5 of the Northern Conference finals. The Mudbugs play the Laredo Bucks for the title.
Trailing 2-0 in the third, Colorado’s Nick Parillo scored at the 7:43 mark. Scott Sheppard had a goal and an assist to lead the Mudbugs.
Stormy round for CU golf at Big 12 tourney
The University of Colorado men’s golf team is in ninth place at the storm-delayed Big 12 Championships at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla. Thunderstorms halted Monday afternoon’s second round, which will be completed today before the third and final round gets underway.
Colorado was at 24-over par, 17 strokes behind leader Oklahoma. The Buffs’ Ryan Anderson was tied for 14th at 3-over with nine holes to play. OU’s Brodie Flanders led the medalist hunt at 2-under with three holes to play.
Fairview grad earns national baseball plaudit
Cody Montgomery, a graduate of Fairview High School, was named the Louisville Slugger national player of the week for his performance last week.
Montgomery, a 6-foot-3, 220-pound senior shortstop at Dallas Baptist, hit five home runs with 13 RBIs and batted .500 in four games for the Patriots, who went 4-0.
