CU golfer finishes tied for fourth in Big 12

Edward McGlasson completed his second round with a 69 and then moved up six positions with a final-round 70 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for fourth at the Big 12 men’s championship at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

Matthew Rosenfeld of Texas shot a final-round 69 and moved up from third after the second round to claim medalist honors with an even-par 210. McGlasson finished at 214. Oklahoma won the team title with an 18-over 858. CU shot a 309 in the third round, 20 strokes worse than in the second, and finished in a tie for 10th at 899.

All the other Buff golfers dropped positions in the final round on the famed course that has hosted three PGA Championships and three U.S. Opens and will again host the PGA in 2007.

Springs’ Gonzalez wins PBA Senior event

Henry Gonzalez of Colorado Springs won his second career PBA Senior Tour event, the season-opening Manassas Open in Manassas, Va.

Gonzalez beat reigning PBA Senior player of the year Tom Baker 2-1 in the title match Tuesday.

After Baker took the first game 216-198, Gonzalez bounced back with a come-from-behind 224-215 victory in Game 2. Gonzalez put together eight consecutive strikes in the third game to take a 268-248 win.

Buckman leads Huskers to another win

Former Lewis-Palmer High School standout Brandon Buckman had four RBIs to back the pitching of Jon Klausing in Nebraska’s 11-0 win over Wichita State. The No. 4-ranked Cornhuskers have won 15 of 16 games.
