Who: Gerald Warden, Padro (chef and owner of El Patio de San Telmo Restaurante) and Jesse, Carol and Veronica Warden of Thornton

Where: Buenos Aires

Best meal: Most of the food is Italian, but very few spices are used. Argentina is noted for its beef, and it is very tender and delicious. We also found the seafood to be plentiful and tasty. Coffee is very strong, so you may want to order hot water on the side (known as a split). El Patio de San Telmo Restaurante is small but very family-oriented. The food is homemade and is absolutely delicious.

Best deal: It is great fun to sit at a sidewalk café, eating their free cookies, olives and cheese while drinking coffee or your favorite beer until the wee hours. We found the people of Argentina to be night people who eat late and party all night. You can find casinos and bingo where you can spend your leisure time.

Best time to go: Mid-May, because it is almost summer in the Southern Hemisphere.

Best travel tip: Taking a taxi is recommended because driving and parking are hectic. Also, it is easier to use local money when possible.
