Christopher Smith, brother of former Washington Redskins running back Timmy Smith, was sentenced to five years’ probation today in federal court for aiding in the distribution of cocaine.

The Smith brothers had been arrested last year and accused of selling cocaine on several occasions.

As part of the plea agreement, all but one of the charges against Christopher Smith were dropped.

The maximum penalty for Smith’s crime was up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

In March, Timmy Smith pleaded guilty to drug charges. His sentencing is set for May 26.

In 1988, Timmy Smith broke a National Football League record for the most rushing yards in a Super Bowl – 204 – in Washington’s 42-10 victory over the Broncos.
