Class 3A defending state champion Bishop Machebeuf will play for another title next weekend after winning twice Saturday at Region 2 in Grand Junction.
The Buffaloes withstood a bid by Roaring Fork 2-0, then blasted Olathe 12-2 to reach the state semifinals Friday in Pueblo.
In all, it was a heavyweight day for 3A. Perennial power Eaton and the Buffaloes, who will play Friday – Eaton posted a home 6-1 victory this season – will be opposite Faith Christian versus Roosevelt.
In Pueblo, Faith Christian rocked Monte Vista 13-0, then outlasted La Junta 7-4. Roosevelt humbled St. Mary’s 12-0 in Eaton, then topped La Junta 7-3.
In 2A, it will be Las Animas against Haxtun in one semifinal, and Wray against Limon in the other. Las Animas’ regional title included a 10-4 victory over previously undefeated Paonia; Haxtun downed No. 4 Rocky Ford in its regional; Wray moved on by handling Granada in Brush; and Limon earned two tough victories in Northglenn, 2-1 over Nucla and 5-3 against Akron.
