Tashi delek.”

That’s what the Dalai Lama says when he meets you, meaning “Auspicious day to you.” Or “May everything be well.” Something kind and good in Bhutanese.

It’ll be auspicious indeed when the Tibetan monk comes to Denver in September as part of Peace Jam’s 10th anniversary. He’s joined by 10 other Nobel Laureates for the weekend celebration, Sept. 15-17.

And here’s the news. You can have lunch with the Dalai Lama on Sept. 16, a Saturday, at the University of Denver. He will be joined at the luncheon by the six female peace prize winners. I am told by Peace Jammers it will be “intimate” – though they would not say how many people will attend but would say the cost is yet to be determined. We hear it could be as much as $1,000 a plate. This guy can fill a stadium. If you’re interested and have the green, call Peace Jam at 303-455-2099.

It could be worth it. You remember what spending time with the Dalai Lama did for caddy Bill Murray in “Caddyshack.”

“So we finish the 18th and he’s gonna stiff me,” says his character, Carl. “And I say, ‘Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.’ And he says, ‘Oh, uh, there won’t be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.’ So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.”

Hats off to Larry

Channel 4’s Larry Green has run a long race. He’s been with the station since Memorial Day 1982 – the same day he’s saying “So long, daddio!”

Green will wrap his broadcasting career covering the Bolder Boulder on May 29, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. He’s the official starter.

There’s a party for Green at the Denver Press Club after his last CBS4 News at 4 broadcast on May 26. His buddy-pal Bill Stuart, who retired a few years ago, will be back – along with lots of old pals. Expect high jinks.

Party patrol

Look for 3,500 pounds of sumo wrestlers at Friday night’s Sushi, Sake & Sumo party at Invesco Field’s club level. It’s a benefit for Generations Cancer Foundation in its sixth year – and about 2,000 people are expected to chow on 20,000 pieces of sushi. Urp.

The U.S. sumo wrestlers are flying in Friday on Frontier – where all rows are six across. Glad I’m not sitting in seat B or E. Call 303-339-4691.

City spirit

The CBS reality series “The Amazing Race” ended with a two-hour special Wednesday night – with the winning team returning to Red Rocks, where it all began five continents, 10 countries and 59,000 miles ago. It was taped in December. Oh, they also won $1 million … Sightem: Tommy Lasorda at Ocean on Tuesday night … Queen Noor declined a limo ride back to the Hotel Teatro on Monday night after her Unique Lives talk at the Buell. Not very royal, but it was a nice night … Friday night is “Singles Night” at the Rockies vs. Toronto Blue Jays game. Head to the picnic area at 5:30, then sit in the “singles-only” section … The “Real World” house in LoDo will have six “Portraits of Denver” by local neo-pop artist Rodney Wallace on the walls … Meet the Press Party 5-9 tonight at the Denver Press Club … Sez who: “I’m not confused, I’m just well mixed.” Robert Frost
