Santiago, Chile (EFE).- The daughters of former Peruvian President Alberto Fujimori arrived here Saturday to visit with their father, who was released on bail after being held for six months on corruption and rights abuse charges.

Keiko Fujimori, who won a seat in the Peruvian Congress April 9 as representative of the pro-Fujimori Alliance for the Future party, and Sachi were received by their father at the residence in Las Condes neighborhood where he has stayed since his release on Thursday.

The Chilean Supreme Court ordered Fujimori be released on $2,900 bond, although it prevented him from leaving country.

Fujimori, Peru’s president from 1990-2000, and his daughters posed for photographs and responded to some questions by reporters. Keiko,

visibly glad to see her father released from prison, said she had “full confidence in the Chilean justice system.”

Fujimori, who fled to Japan – his ancestral homeland – in late 2000 amid a burgeoning corruption scandal, was arrested and jailed in Chile late last year while on his way back to Peru, which has asked for his extradition to try him on corruption and rights abuse charges.
