I break one of my rules this week and talk about a beer that isn’t in local liquor stores.
It’s not often a Colorado brewer, particularly one as small as Glenwood Canyon Brewing Co., wins two gold medals at the World Beer Cup. Glenwood Canyon, in the Hotel Denver, bagged golds for two seasonals, Deep Lake, a Strong Scotch Ale; and Sopris, a Strong Ale. They’re available only as winter seasonals around the New Year, but Ken Jones, brewer and partner, says locals keep the brewery busy turning out Vapor Cave IPA and No Name Nut Brown Ale year-round.
