Getting your player ready...

There’s still room to register for the inaugural Clear Creek Challenge on June 3. Organizers are trumpeting the grassroots event as having the most descent of any multi-sport race in the world. That’s right, an all-downhill race. Finally, a dance with gravity, not a battle. Start at Loveland ski area and run 5 miles down to Bakerville. Get on a bike and pedal 20 miles through Silver Plume and Georgetown, along the Silver Creek Trail down to Lawson. Then get in your boat and paddle Class III-IV whitewater down Clear Creek for 12 miles. Did you notice the most important word in the description of each race leg? It was “down.” Is there a better way to describe a race? Competitors finish at Kermit’s, of course, where beer, music and awards will be plentiful. Organizers are expecting 300 to 500 competitors in the three-person team ($105 entry fee) or solo ($60) categories. Entry fees go to the Alpine Rescue Team.
