Gardner heads Hall of Fame class

Greco-Roman wrestler Rulon Gardner leads the 2006 inductees into the Colorado Springs Sports Hall of Fame.

The heavyweight gold medalist at Sydney, who worked out at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, is joined by Darryl Clack, a star athlete at Widefield High School and a football and track and field standout at Arizona State; Dave and Chuck Delich, hockey brothers who played at Colorado College and the Air Force Academy, respectively; the 1982 and 1983 Air Force football teams, which went a combined 18-7 with two bowl victories; and Colleen O’Connor and Jim Milns, who won a bronze medal in Olympic ice dancing in 1976 at Innsbruck.

Buffs win CGA two-man championship

Two University of Colorado teammates, Ryan Anderson of Greeley Country Club and Derek O’Neill of Lone Tree Golf Club, won the Colorado Golf Association State Two-Man Team Championship in a playoff Thursday at Dalton Ranch G.C. in Durango.

Anderson converted O’Neill’s approach shot for a birdie on the second playoff hole and a win over Dean Clapp of Meadow Hills G.C. and Jim Doidge of Pueblo C.C., and Riley Arp and Chase Wahl of Collindale G.C.

In the senior division, Kent Moore of Cherry Hills C.C. and Steve Bell of Denver C.C. won with a 3-under-par 141. Last week, Moore won the CGA State Senior Match Play Championship.

Collis Chandler III and Eric Mork lead after the second round of the Charlie Coe Invitational at Castle Pines, shooting a 72 Thursday for a 3-under 141 total and a one-stroke lead over Geoff Couch and Chris Griggs.

Outlaws trade draft pick

The morning after drafting defenseman Brett Moyer of Hofstra, its second pick in the Major League Lacrosse college draft, the Denver Outlaws traded Moyer, midfielder Marc Young and a first-round pick in the 2007 supplemental draft for Philadelphia’s first-round pick in the 2007 college draft.

The Outlaws (2-0) face defending MLL champion Baltimore (1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Invesco Field at Mile High.
