Jason Jennings was far from perfect Sunday at Coors Field, but he deserved a better fate than the Rockies’ 4-3 loss to the Florida Marlins that dropped his record to 3-6.
Despite his seventh quality start of the season, Jennings lost for the fourth time in his past five starts.
“I’ll take that game every time, especially here,” Jennings said after allowing four runs (three earned) on 10 hits in seven innings. His ERA for the season is 4.48.
HAMMERIN’ HOLLIDAY: Matt Holliday, hitting .340, continues to do his part to ignite the Rockies’ offense. He went 3-for-3, including a 455-foot homer to left field. The ball landed on the concourse, then bounced over a concession area and out of the park. According to the Rockies, it was the longest homer of the season at Coors Field.
WAIVER WATCH: General manager Dan O’Dowd said Sunday the Rockies would attempt to find trade partners for pitcher Sun-Woo Kim and utilityman Jason Smith. Both were designated for assignment Saturday. Smith, however, is more likely to clear waivers and end up at Triple-A Colorado Springs. With clubs always looking for starting pitchers, Kim could be claimed by another team.
