Former University of Denver defenseman Matt Carle, an All-American and the Hobey Baker Award winner, received another prestigious award Wednesday when he was named the USA Hockey college player of the year.
Carle led the nation in assists and defensemen in points this past season, and tallied three goals and six assists after signing with the San Jose Sharks on March 19. Carle joins former DU teammate Adam Berkhoel (2004) as a winner of the USA Hockey award.
