At least two large air tankers capable of dropping up to 2,500 gallons of fire retardant were battling a wildfire Tuesday just north of Dinosaur National Monument, officials said.
The wildfire, burning in piñon, was first reported Tuesday afternoon and had grown to hundreds of acres, though fire officials could not immediately give a firm estimate, according to Jim Fletcher of the Rocky Mountain Area Coordination Center.
Additional details were not immediately available.
