Wyoming extended the contract of football coach Joe Glenn through the 2010 season, athletics director Gary Barta announced Tuesday.
Glenn, 57, is entering his fourth year at Wyoming and has compiled a 15-20 record with the Cowboys.
In addition to the extension, if Glenn remains through the length of his contract, he will receive a $300,000 retirement annuity as part of his compensation package. His base salary is $150,324. With incentives, his salary can exceed $450,000 a year.
“This is a tremendous vote of confidence for me, and for our coaches,” Glenn said. “One of the most important keys to success is continuity and stability. This certainly enhances our ability for success.”
Colorado: The university is studying whether to return to artificial turf just seven years after switching to natural grass at Folsom Field.
Athletic director Mike Bohn said a change could provide significant savings for an athletic department that recently received an $8 million loan from the university. Among other things, the department paid $3.1 million in December to buy out former football coach Gary Barnett’s contract and $700,000 to buy out new coach Dan Hawkins’ contract at Boise State.
Bohn said any decision is at least a year away. The school is trying to determine where improvements are needed at Folsom Field, the Coors Events Center and other facilities.
“There has been some discussion about it, but it is very pre- mature to say we’re going to make a change,” Bohn said.
Colorado spent $1.2 million to make the switch to grass in 1999.

Air Force will play the Wake Forest men’s team Nov. 29 at the Pepsi Center or at the World Arena in Colorado Springs.
The Falcons, coached by Jeff Bzdelik, are coming off a 24-7 season that set a school record for victories. They lost 78-69 to Illinois in San Diego during the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
An Air Force spokesperson said if the Wake Forest game is played at the Pepsi Center, it probably would be part of a doubleheader. Wake Forest is Air Force’s highest-profile nonconference opponent, having qualified for the NCAA Tournament five consecutive years before missing out last season.
