Mark McIntosh slid from the world of sports to the world of commerce almost seamlessly.

When he was cut loose after 18 years as a sports reporter at KCNC-Channel 4, McIntosh was out of work less than a month before he landed at “Colorado & Co.,” KUSA-Channel 9’s faux talk show (10 a.m. weekdays).

He’s delighted. “I love it!”, enthused McIntosh, who, you will not be surprised to learn, is also a popular motivational speaker. “It’s such a wonderful opportunity for me to branch out far beyond sports, to be able to talk to people from all walks of life.”

People he generally talks to on “C&C” are ones who can afford a promotional fee to appear. Today’s schedule, for example, includes segments on weddings and new homes.

The revenue-producing idea is spreading. Only a year after “C&C” went on the air at Channel 9, there were similar shows in Sacramento, Atlanta, Salt Lake City and St. Paul.

The ever-upbeat McIntosh sees the positives. It gives him a chance to plug his Victory Productions; “I work at the No.1 station,” and, perhaps best of all, he doesn’t have to get up at 5 a.m. to be on the job.

He stepped in to “C&C” after previous host Scott Patrick went off to pursue his dreams of cable syndication.

McIntosh blended easily with his co-host, Denice Plante. “We’ve had a good chemistry from the get-go. I couldn’t have asked for anything better.”

Weekend highlights

Friday

More explosions per hour than any show on television, “24” returns with back-to-back episodes of Season 5 and a predictable-but-exciting plot in which Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) is framed for murder (7 and 8 p.m., KDVR-Channel 31).

Saturday

“The Misfits” (1961) was the last film appearance for film icons Clark Gable and Marilyn Monroe but the final product was less than thrilling, despite a screenplay by Arthur Miller (8 p.m., KRMA-Channel 6).

Sunday

Not another “reality” show! Yes. “Treasure Hunters” features two teams, one starting in Hawaii and another in Alaska, who must solve clues to finding a treasure. Problems ensue (7 p.m., KUSA-Channel 9; premiere).

Around the dial

Oz Medina, a deejay at KBCO 97.3-FM for 12 years, is the new afternoon guy, 3-7 p.m., on KCUV 102.3-FM … Happy anniversary to Rick Crandall, marking his 15th year as host of “The Breakfast Club” on KEZW 1430-AM today … Whatever happened to: One-time KUSA-Channel 9 anchorwoman Anita Lopez hired on as a real-estate agent with Coldwell Banker residential in Boulder … “Colorado Getaways,” hosted by Jim Benemann, does its first live show, from Mesa Verde (6:30 p.m. Saturday, KCNC-Channel 4) … Quotable: “Television has raised writing to a new low.” Samuel Goldwyn.
