“Dad’s Own Housekeeping Book:137 Bright Ideas,” by David Bowers ($10.95, Workman)

The author is a stay-at-home dad whose domesticity book was tailormade for broom-fearing men. “Dad’s Own Housekeeping Book” tackles the age-old source of marital disagreement – men and cleaning – with a completely new attitude and outlook. Bowers knows that men and women think differently about household chores, so he produced a book full of such tips as “making the bed in under a minute,” “getting your living room to a ‘mother-in- law-approved’ level of clean in less than 30 minutes,” and “how to load a dishwasher like you load the trunk of your car.” Fun and useful, this book is an ideal Father’s Day gift for dads in need of a housekeeping boost.| Antonia Blyth
