John Tesh – musician, radio host and man of faith – shares his thoughts on what moves him in popular culture.
Favorite Movie: “Gladiator” is one of those “movie therapy”-type films. If you are having a bad day or wondering about your purpose in life, Maximus straightens that out.
Favorite CD: Peter Gabriel’s “So” is just amazing. When you are trying to write the perfect song or find the perfect mix between pop, ethnic and passionate music, Peter really is the best.
Favorite Book: There is a reason Rick Warren’s “The Purpose-Driven Life” sells a million copies a month. Most of us have come to the realization that this isn’t our final destination. Through this book you come to the understanding that you better get busy and create a life God will reward.
Favorite Concert: When I saw Yes at Duke University in 1971 – opening for Alvin Lee – their keyboard player, Rick Wakeman, became my onstage hero. I had never seen a classically trained virtuoso play three keyboards at once.
Favorite Concert Venue: We’ve filmed two public television specials at Red Rocks Amphitheatre because the crowds are always the best and our performances are always better there. There is definitely a reason that it is called God’s amphitheater.
John Tesh plays tonight at the New Life Church, 11025 Voyager Parkway in Colorado Springs. Tickets, $19.95, are available via 877-801-4995.
