CSU-Pueblo’s Hedrick wins PubLinks title
Andrew Hedrick, of Colorado State University at Pueblo, won the Colorado Golf Association Public Links Championship on Sunday after he eagled the first playoff hole at The Course at Hyland Hills.
Hedrick’s final-round 67 gave him a three-round total of 11-under-par 205 and tied him with Brian Richmeier, who shot 65 on Sunday to make up four spots after the second round. But Hedrick’s second shot from the fairway on the 561-yard, par-5 first hole rimmed in and out of the hole and set him up for an easy tap-in eagle.
Arvada’s Rick DeWitt, the 1999 champion, finished third at 206. Pepperdine’s Michael Baird and Colorado sophomore Derek Tolan tied for fourth at 207. Second-round leader and defending champion Zen Brown, of Colorado State, shot a final-round 73 to tie for sixth at 208.
Avs finish NHL draft with three more picks
The Avalanche chose two U.S. National Under-18 team members and a University of Michigan goaltender in the late rounds of the NHL draft Saturday.

Three more University of Denver players went in the late rounds to bring to five the number of Pioneers players chosen in the draft. Lakewood’s Tyler Ruegsegger, who played at Shattuck-St. Mary’s Prep in Minnesota and will join DU in the fall, went to Toronto at No. 166 in the sixth round.
Two other incoming recruits were taken in the seventh round. Marc Cheverie went to Florida at No. 193, and Jesse Martin went to Atlanta at No. 195.
