COLUMBUS, Neb.-
What could be the world's biggest corn maze is being cut in a 19-acre field near Columbus.
Work began in late June on a field of corn that organizers hope will qualify as the largest corn maze in the Guinness World Records, the Columbus Telegram reported.
The maze is part of the city's 150th birthday celebration and is scheduled to open in September.
Sharon Farritor, a coordinator for the events, said the maze will be challenging.
"Though the correct pathway may be walked in only 15 minutes," Farritor told the newspaper, "most wandering maze-goers will require about one hour to travel through more than three miles of twists, turns and decision points."
The city hired the Maize, a national corn maze company based in American Fork, Utah, to design, construct and operate the maze, said Jed Brunken, chairman of the corn maze committee.
