On the road again for fries?

Put it in Cruz-In control

The Denver Post’s exemplary epicurean Tucker Shaw recently lamented the dearth of virtue surrounding meals in the car. True that. But sometimes a solo traveler, wary of touching – forget eating from – the tables in fast-food joints, eschews victual virtue for the comfy embrace of a bucket seat and greasy steering wheel. We here on the OE team have logged too many meals on wheels, as evidenced by the funk – beyond the George Clinton variety – in our Toyotas and our unmatched knee-steering skills. But that gives us a chance to deliver the good news: The best French fries you’ll eat while maneuvering a car are found at the Cruz-In on U.S. 285 between Pine and Bailey. The tin trailer beckons time-taxed travelers with its easy access. Those fries, batter-dipped, steaming and starchy, are glorious. The burgers are decent with well toasted buns – canned mushrooms, though? Come on, Mr. Cruz! There’s a great selection of frozen treats. The burritos are fresh too, rounding out the Cruz-In’s selection of handy, car-worthy cuisine. Whatever you do, don’t miss those fries and grab extra napkins.

Get there 67366 U.S. 285, between Pine and Bailey.
