Republican gubernatorial candidate Marc Holtzman racked up $575,000 in bank debt last month as his campaign stumbled to a close.

Holtzman raised only $9,844 in private donations for the month that ended Wednesday. In total, counting the loans and nonmonetary contributions, Holtzman reported raising $659,255.

During June, Holtzman’s campaign was embroiled in a legal battle over whether he submitted enough signatures to qualify for the ballot. For the month, Holtzman spent $780,050, including $70,462 on legal fees.

Holtzman reported the financial data in a report filed Monday with the Colorado secretary of state’s office.

The other candidates for governor have not yet filed their reports because they have until Wednesday to submit reports electronically.

Still, Republican U.S. Rep. Bob Beauprez and Democratic former Denver District Attorney Bill Ritter released limited information from their reports.

Beauprez reported that he raised $151,860 during the month and has $837,509 on hand. For the campaign so far, Beauprez has raised $2 million, according to spokesman John Marshall.

Ritter raised more than $360,000 in June, setting a new monthly fundraising record for the campaign, according to a release. So far, Ritter has raised nearly $1.9 million.
