Motorists trying to exit from northbound I-25 to northbound University this morning were stymied by a small lake.
After nearly $800 million on T-REX highway improvements, a portion of the corridor is apparently still susceptible to flooding.
“The drainage is not complete in that area of University Boulevard,” explained Allison Hodge, T-REX spokeswoman. “The detention ponds are not complete.”
Hodge said the drainage work will be complete by the Sept. 1 deadline for finishing all highway work on T-REX, which stands for Transportation Expansion Project. When the drainage work is finished, it should be able to handle heavy rains, she said.
The problem only lasted a few hours, and the exit was reopened.
