Larimer County – One man was fatally stabbed and another injured Thursday in what police said was possibly a drug- and gang-related homicide.

Antonio Soliz Martinez, 47, who police said was a fugitive in a drug case, was rushed to Poudre Valley Hospital with stab wounds on his face and chest, said Eloise Campanella, a spokeswoman for the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities did not release the name of the man who died.

On Thursday afternoon, six children pedaled bikes over to the taped-off crime scene, where sheriff’s deputies were collecting evidence.

“One got stabbed, and one got murdered,” said an 11-year-old boy who witnessed the incident. The boy said that early in the morning, he heard a woman’s voice echoing through the park – screams of “oh, no.”

Neighbor Janette Carlson, 66, said she didn’t hear anything until shortly after 4 a.m. when police banged on doors. She said that over the weekend, several men were outside shouting insults and taunts into Unit 13, the mobile home where the men were stabbed.

Campanella said officials were investigating whether Martinez or the dead man was the attacker or if both were victims and other people were involved. Authorities believe at least one person broke into the trailer sometime before 4 a.m. through the front door.

Witnesses gave numerous conflicting stories and changed their versions of what happened, she said.

Deputies believe that the dead man lived at the mobile home at Poudre Valley Mobile Home Park in the 2000 block of North College Avenue.

Martinez has a criminal history including arrests on counts of assault, forgery and drug possession, according to Colorado Bureau of Investigation records.
