How many ways are there to appreciate the color-splashed landscape around Crested Butte this week? At least 73, and that takes into account only the guided rare-plant and wildflower hikes and walks leaving from trailheads around town all week. If trekking isn’t your style, you can tour the blooms in a four-wheel- drive vehicle, from a mountain bike, on horseback or in a horse-drawn wagon, and then round out your day with a garden concert, or a fancy meal that includes edible flowers. Fill in any blank spaces during the week with gardening seminars or learning about botanical illustration and other blossom-related arts. Tours range from $10 for a hike to $61 for a wagon ride. Special dining events run from $11 for a evening ice cream party – sample chocolate-rosemary and lavender sweets – to $70 for a swanky seat at the Blossom Buffet in a private home.
