WALK THIS WAY|You might get some funny stares on the track or treadmill, but walking backward burns 25 percent more calories than walking forward, according to a University of Oregon study reported on in Men’s Health magazine. Taking shorter strides means you take more steps, plus studies have found that going in reverse increases your heart rate by 47 percent and oxygen use by 78 percent.


GO FISH|Consuming omega-3 fatty acids, the type found in fish oils and over-the-counter supplements, may ease kids’ symptoms of depression without harmful side effects. Sound fishy? According to a pilot study published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, seven out of 10 children in the active treatment group but none of those in the placebo group showed a significant reduction in depression scores.|The Washington Post
