LIGHT ON YOUR FEET AND YOUR WALLET
A pair of status running shoes can easily set you back $80 to $150, but a new design from Starter that offers both high-technology design and value pricing may challenge the
supremacy of all those Nikes and New Balance sneakers at the gym. Starter is touting its 3Tech Runner, $32 in such stores as Wal-Mart, for its injected nitrogen heel unit, high-
performance midsole for cushioning and a second-density midfoot crossbridge. Starter’s parent company is Exeter Brands, a division of Nike. The men’s version is white with orange accents; the women’s white with yellow.
EXERCISING JOB OPTIONS
Shoulder aches, back pain and wrist soreness are common complaints of desk-bound office workers. But the side stretches, coffeepot curls and walks around the headquarters recommended in “Fitness 9 to 5:
Easy Exercises for the Working Week” (Chronicle Books, $12.95) can minimize those ills. Written by Shirley Archer, a former Wall Street lawyer who now teaches health and wellness at Stanford University, the book features easy-to-follow illustrations, instructions and counts on how many calories you’ll burn in a year of staying fit on the job.
