A Harley-Davidson ownership group rallied Sunday to raise money for the Colorado search-and-rescue volunteers who helped save a boy lost in the wilderness in May.

“I thank heaven that all of those people exist,” Teddi Gray said about the rescuers who found her nephew, 8-year-old Evan Thompson, near Cañon City.

Evan attended the fundraiser, drawing tickets for prizes and getting to sit on his first motorcycle.

Evan was the subject of a massive search-and-rescue effort in May after he went missing during a family retreat. More than 250 volunteers from 20 agencies worked three days before finding the boy in healthy condition.
