Registration is up more than 100 percent for Sunday’s annual Colorado-Eagle River Ride, but there’s still space for road cyclists interested in joining the pack. The one-day, 100-mile charity ride (or 100K and 50-mile options) begins and ends at the base of Beaver Creek Resort, taking participants through the Eagle River Valley and up the rural setting of Highway 131 to the Colorado River, following the river to Dotsero before returning up the valley along the Eagle. Last year, more than 650 riders participated in the event benefiting the Snowboard Outreach Society, a nonprofit organization that helps build character skills for at-risk youth (www.sosoutreach.org).

“This is a 100-mile road bike ride that is doable for every type of rider,” said Tony O’Rouke of the Beaver Creek Resort Company, a rider the past three years who cited less steep climbing as a plus. “There is plenty of support for someone not sure if they can do it.”

Nonrefundable registration is $95 through Friday, bumping up to $115 on the day of the ride.
