18-year-old shot to death at outdoor Globeville party

An 18-year-old man died early Sunday from gunshot wounds suffered after a gathering in the Globeville neighborhood turned violent.

Denver police declined to release the man’s name because they had not yet notified his relatives. They said he was hit with multiple gunshot wounds about 1:15 a.m., shortly after he flashed gang signals. The shooting occurred in front of a house at 47th Avenue and Lincoln Street.

Dale Thomsen, a nearby resident, said he was just getting ready to call police to break up an outdoor drinking party when he heard four gunshots.

Thomsen said he had seen a spate of violence hit the neighborhood recently.

Parents of UW killer send condolences

The parents of the University of Wyoming student who, police said, killed two friends before shooting himself this month expressed their condolences to the parents of the victims.

“We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the families and extended families of these fine young people whose lives have been destroyed,” said John and Janet Geiger, in a written statement.

Police said their son, Justin, shot and killed Amber Carlson, 19, of Denver and stabbed to death Laramie resident Adam Towler, 20, before killing himself. The surviving victim, Anthony Klochak, escaped with stab wounds.

Driver found dead off Colorado 50

Colorado State Patrol on Sunday found a man dead in his car, which had been driven off the road.

Police found the driver, Michael K. Mumm, 32, partially ejected from his vehicle about 110 feet off of Colorado 50.

The Mesa County Coroner pronounced the man dead at the scene after 1 a.m., police said.

Police are still investigating the crash.

Driver shoots himself after ramp collision

A driver shot himself early Sunday after his car collided with another car on an entrance ramp to Interstate 70.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office declined to release the names of either driver.

Officials said the person who shot himself was taken to Denver Health Medical Center but his condition was not available.

AURORA

Memorial held at site of murder-suicide

Fifteen family friends held a memorial at the Dotson family home in Aurora on Sunday afternoon.

Jason Dotson,41, shot his wife Tracie, 39, and then himself on Friday in their Aurora home, police said. The couple’s children were in the house but were unharmed.

The murder-suicide took Jason Dotson’s longtime friend Nasser Joudeh by surprise.

Joudeh said he had known Dotson since they worked at the Denver district attorney’s office.
