M. Night Shyamalan, the writer-director behind “The Sixth Sense,” “Signs” and the new flick “Lady in the Water,” is worried his drawing power has faded. Quoted by skynews.com’s Sandro Monetti, Shyamalan said, “Maybe I’ve had a disconnect with people. Maybe the wine and food I like isn’t the wine and food everyone else likes now.” Shyamalan may be right: “Lady in the Water,” starring Paul Giamatti, earned $18.2 million last weekend, the worst showing for a Shyamalan film in its debut weekend, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Quoted by contactmusic.com, Giamatti admitted his role in the wine-infused independent film hit “Sideways” has benefits. “I get a lot of free hooch when I go into restaurants,” Giamatti said.

Pamela Anderson could be in hot water with her PETA pals when she returns from her European honeymoon with new hubby Kid Rock. Al Yeganeh, who inspired the brusque “Soup Nazi” character on “Seinfeld,” is taking his recipes to Britain. Yeganeh and his partners plan to open 50 Original SoupMan franchises during the next year, chief executive John Bello said. The company also hopes to open outlets in Germany, Italy and Japan.

Nickelodeon announced it is branding organic edamame after two of the cable network’s popular shows, “Dora the Explorer” and “SpongeBob SquarePants.” The network is expanding its character licensing program by focusing on fresh, packaged fruits and vegetables, a Nickelodeon news release said. Among the items under the Nickelodeon brand: pears, apples, cherries, spinach, baby carrots and clementines. The network hopes to encourage healthier diet and lifestyle choices for kids.
