Old “Modern Times”
FILM|Ground down by the rhythm of modern life? Head to the Civic Center Park’s Greek Amphitheatre for a screening of “Modern Times.” In the second treat in the Civic Center Conservancy’s “Great American Comedy” series, maverick filmmaker Charlie Chaplin and his accidentally savvy Tramp toss a monkey wrench into the machinery. PARTY|For the kinky and the curious, Rock Island Club hosts “Whip It,” a fetish party that will include dance performances, music and booths selling sex toys. There will be guest appearances by Mistress Kiva, a dominatrix and fetish fashion designer, as well as Veronica Vinyl, an artist who incorporates the night’s theme into her work. Rock Island describes the event as one that pushes the limits of the city ordinances. BASEBALL AND SEWING|Coors Field hosts the unlikely combination of two American pastimes: needle arts and baseball. Summer’s ritual
COUNTY FAIR|The Larimer County Fair’s theme this year is “Fair Reflections, Remember When,” which will bring back attractions from years past. The festival officially opens Thursday, but events start as early as Saturday and include a dirt dance, open barrel race competition and the team roping competition.
