Trophy moments on screen
Looking for a way to immortalize that game-winning home run? Boulder-based Innovative Visions LLC has a solution – the Video Trophy. The trophy sits on top of a wooden base that contains a touch-activated LCD screen to show award-winning highlights.
“I thought it would be great to see how, for example, someone won a Heisman or even one of their own trophies,” said Kevin Douglas, president of Innovative Visions. “You can watch the highlight and relive that moment in history again and again.”
Those special moments can be gleaned from 8 mm camera film, printed photos and all formats of videotape. Customers can choose any type of wood for their base, Douglas said.
The Video Trophy sells for $995 and will be available early next month, Douglas said. The fee includes video production. Video Trophy plugs into a wall socket and automatically shuts off when the video is finished playing. A battery option will be available in coming months. – Ameera Butt, The Denver Post
PSP can now play with big video
Sony’s PlayStation Portable, better known as the PSP, is a high-powered gaming console and multimedia player that fits in your pocket. But what if you don’t want to watch a movie or play a game on a 4 1/2-inch-wide screen? The peripherals manufacturer Nyko will now let you hook your PSP up to your television with its Play on TV Adaptor.
To circumvent the lack of a video output on the PSP, the device, available at major retailers for $80, clamps over the PSP screen and scans it like a video camera, sending the signal through standard cables to your TV.
Blowing up the tiny PSP screen to several times its original size does degrade the image. But Play on TV widens your PSP options.
If you have a movie in the PSP’s UMD format, and the idea of holding the PSP in your lap for two hours to watch it doesn’t appeal to you, the Play on TV offers a better way. – Charles Herold, The New York Times
