Jurors in Arapahoe County today began deliberating the fate of a 32-year-old man prosecutors say pretended to be a young boy so he could sexually assault nearly 20 children over a five-year span.

Zuri-Kye Latifbay McGhee faces 75 counts, mostly felonies. If convicted of them all, he could be sent to prison for life.

The 12-day trial featured 60 witnesses for the prosecution, many of them children who described being assaulted dozens of times by McGhee.

They said McGhee led them to believe he was a child himself. Parents testified that McGhee fooled them as well.

“He was good,” prosecutor Christine Schober told jurors in her closing arguments today. “By acting as a child … only in that way did this defendant maneuver himself into the lives all these good people. This man disrupted each and every one of these families. He caused them to question themselves. Caused them pain and anguish. Caused them sadness and anger. … all to satisfy his desire.”
