Looks like Colorado has a star turn in another movie. But once again, it was shot in Canada – and once again KCNC-Ch. 4 is all over it.

The Josh Hartnett/Samuel L. Jackson movie “Resurrecting the Champ” takes place in Denver but was shot in Calgary. Director Rod Lurie and company were in Denver for just two days of shooting last week.

Now comes “Blades of Glory,” a skating comedy starring Will Farrell, pictured at left, and Jon Heder (“Napoleon Dynamite”). The plot has the two skaters stripped of their medals and banned from figure skating after an ugly brawl at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Then the boys discover they can compete again – in pairs figure skating. They prepare for the competition in Colorado. In “Champ,” Channel 4 is always playing on monitors in the “Denver Times” newsroom. The station’s GM, Walt DeHaven, also OK’d the use of the station’s logos and newscasts for “Blades of Glory,” to give it an authentic Colorado feel.

And that’s about as good as it gets for us. There was some talk of “Glory” shooting scenes in state, but it look like that time has come and gone.

Tunes

Remember the Moonrakers? Neither do I, but they were the hottest rock band going in Denver in the ’60s. The boys never broke out nationally, but morphed into Chocolate Hair, and then Sugarloaf, which made the hit single “Green Eyed Lady.” And you’ll have that song buzzing in your head all day. Anyway, the Moonrakers reunite, along with the Freddi-Henchi Band, Aug. 13 at Treo at Lone Tree. A geezer rock party to remember. Tix at ticketalternative.com.

Bourbon Street Pizzabar is closed – but it forgot to tell the band. Oops. If you want to hear From The Top Band without pizza, it’ll be at the Gothic on Aug. 17.

South Park Music Festival comes down Sept. 7-10 with 120-plus bands, a bunch of them from Colorado: Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, VAUX, The Motet, Munly & the Lee Lewis Harlots (No.1 in The Denver Post’s 2006 Underground Music Poll), Born in the Flood, Hot IQs, Meese, Cat-a-Tac, Trampolines.

The very odd pairing of Hasidic reggae/rapper Matisyahu and Polyphonic Spree hits CityLights Pavilion on Sept. 3, the night before they play at Jazz Aspen.

It’s a date

The $30,000 Aug. 18 lunch date is on between an unknown Denver gas/oil exec and Boulder-bred stunner Jessica Biel (named Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire last year). The money went to Molly-

palooza, a funder for Molly Bloom, the East High kid who lost her leg in a limo accident on prom night. Organizer Jeanne Lee confirms that the check cleared, the guy, named John, wants to stay anonymous – and they’ll be chowing at one of Denver’s fancy dining rooms.

City spirit

Former newscaster Tamara Banks is leaving her spot as neighborhood liaison in Mayor Hick’s administration. In a press release, Banks says she’ll return to Denver radio and, eventually, to television … Sez who: “I did it for the loot, honey, always the loot.” Ava Gardner
