Frontier Airlines passengers will have to pay $5 to book a ticket over the phone with a reservations agent or in person at the airport as of Aug. 8.
The change comes as Frontier tries to increase bookings through its Web site in a struggle to cut back on costs.
There are exceptions to the per-ticket fee, including frequent flier redemption tickets, exchanges, tickets for groups, meetings and conventions, coupons or vouchers, promotional tickets, Web site outages, interline reservations, military government or prepaid tickets. Frontier will also maintain its paper ticket fee.
Many airlines, including United, already charge phone reservations fees of $5 to $15 and fees for booking tickets at the airport. Others, including Southwest Airlines, do not charge such a fee.
