Laramie – The pilot of a small plane made an emergency landing on westbound Interstate 80 shortly before 8 a.m. today about 12 miles east of Laramie. There were no reported injuries to the pilot or his passenger, according to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, and the plane appeared to be undamaged.

Troopers said the pilot made the landing and then taxied the single-engine Cessna 120 two-seat aircraft into the median.

The pilot, Nick Robeles, 19, of Denair, Calif., told troopers he had just taken off from the Cheyenne airport, but the aircraft was not gaining enough altitude to make it over the pass between Cheyenne and Laramie.

Robles was enroute from Washaka, Wis., to Castle, Calif. The passenger was Rami Andrawes, 26, of New Zealand.

Westbound I-80 was closed to allow troopers to escort the plane as it taxied to Laramie.
