Pay attention. The state’s next governor will be elected Nov. 7, and it behooves us to learn as much as we can about candidates Bob Beauprez and Bill Ritter.
For “Colorado Matters” host Ryan Warner, this is where Colorado Public Radio shines. “This coverage is about time, time to ask follow-up questions, time to say, ‘I don’t get that.”‘
Starting Monday, Warner hosts a seven-part series of interviews with the candidates (10 a.m. and 7 p.m. weekdays, KCFR 1340-AM).
The first two shows, airing Monday and Tuesday, deal with biographies of the two men. Subsequent shows turn to issues, including energy, education, immigration, gay marriage, abortion, stem-cell research and the budget.
The on-air exchange I’m waiting to hear is one between Democrat Ed Perlmutter and Republican Rick O’Donnell. The ink was barely dry on the primary results Tuesday when the two were swapping barbs in print.
Warner is looking to bring the two together – but not in the same room at the same time. “It would probably be a case of one at a time.”
Much safer.

Bueno, ‘Piolin’
When syndicated morning talk-show host Eddie “Piolin” Sotelo jumped from KBNO 1280-AM to KXPK 96.5-FM in February he took with him a lot of Spanish-speaking listeners.
So many he helped KXPK more than double its listenership in the latest Arbitron ratings. Even more, Sotelo made KXPK the region’s most-listened-to station among adults 18-34 in the 6-10 a.m. period.
