A bus driver was seriously hurt and several children received minor injuries when a bus crashed into a farm tractor in northeastern Colorado this morning, officials say.

The bus had fewer than 10 children on board just after 7 a.m. when it ran into a tractor used for spraying fields at the intersection of County Road 15 and County Road JJ in Morgan County, Undersheriff John Fryar said.

The bus driver, whose name was not released, is currently en route to the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan, Fryar said.

An unknown number of children were also taken by ambulance to the hospital 21 miles southeast of the accident near New Raymer, he said. But they received minor bumps and bruises, he said.

It is unclear exactly how the accident happened. Deputies are still on scene interviewing witnesses, Fryar said.

Fryar does not know which school the children attend.
