Nick Lachey is getting serious about girlfriend Vanessa Minnillo. Lachey took the MTV host to visit his folks in Cincinnati over the Labor Day holiday, Star magazine reported. The magazine reported the couple were relaxing with the Lachey family aboard father John’s cabin cruiser on the Ohio River.
Nick Lachey cleaned up in his divorce with Jessica Simpson. The couple, who did not have a prenuptial agreement, amassed $36 million in assets during their three-year marriage. Under California law, Lachey can claim half of that. TMZ.com reports Lachey has agreed to less in divorce proceedings to avoid a messy court fight. Lachey reportedly will get more than the $1.5 million he originally was offered by Simpson, but considerably less than the 50 percent he’s entitled to by law.
Just one more Simpson item: John Mayer dumped Simpson like a hot potato after Us Weekly and People magazines quickly reported their relationship. An insider told the New York Post, the reclusive Mayer broke it off because Simpson and her pals were too loose- lipped about their friendship.
The Liza Minnelli-David Gest divorce continues to drag on. According to court papers, the New York Post reported, Gest tried to “poison” Minnelli while Gest claims she didn’t tell him she had a sexually transmitted disease. Can’t these two follow the Jessica Simpson-Nick Lachey divorce model and get it over with already?
Beyoncé Knowles did not get that engagement ring after all for her 25th birthday on Monday. Instead her boyfriend, rap mogul Jay-Z, surprised the actress-singer with a 1959 Rolls- Royce convertible, the New York Post reports. The car is worth a reported $1 million.
Orlando Bloom and Kate Bosworth have split – again. The acting couple have an on-again, off-again relationship of almost four years, and sources told Us Weekly. Bloom and Bosworth still are scheduled to appear together in the Depression-era drama “Seasons of Dust” which will begin filming this month.
Ashlee Simpson and longtime boyfriend Braxton Olita also have broken up, Us Weekly reports. Simpson was spotted kissing Pete Wentz, a member of the band Fall Out Boy, Saturday night at a New York City club. Simpson’s rep said the singer and Olita broke up about a week ago.
Britney Spears is planning to have her second child by Caesarean section on Sept. 14, the same day her son Preston was born a year ago. Star magazine reports Spears will deliver a daughter to be named Jailynn in honor of her parents, Jamie and Lynne, and little sister, Jamie Lynn. Makes it all less confusing for father Kevin Federline, we suppose.
Rod Stewart and outspoken British comic Russell Brand got into a public spat in the middle of the GQ Man of the Year awards Tuesday in London. While claiming his innocence to a police investigation of an alleged “date rape,” Brand claimed he had sex with Stewart’s daughter, Kimberly, 27. Rod Stewart, 61, assailed the comic when he picked up an achievement award later. Stewart said: “You went with my daughter, did you? Russell, stand up.” A sheepish Brand stood and mumbled: “I took her out for one evening.” Stewart asked: “Did you behave yourself?” Brand replied: “I never touched that girl.” Stewart finished: “Right you didn’t. You mustn’t come up here and boast. I speak here as a father.”
