The University of Colorado volleyball team won the Colorado Invitational at the Coors Events Center with a three-game victory over Southern Miss on Saturday.

CU (4-3) notched a 30-19, 30-17, 30-26 victory over Southern Miss (5-5), the Buffaloes’ third sweep of the tournament. CU didn’t lose a game in its victories, including matches against Cincinnati and Central Connecticut.

Ashley Nu’u, the tournament’s MVP, led Colorado with 22 assists and two aces against Southern Miss. The Buffs, who served 10 aces for the first time since November 2003, received three aces from Mallori Gibson.

War Memorial Stadium may host prep games

High school championship football could be played at the University of Wyoming’s War Memorial Stadium in Laramie in November, depending on how schools across the state feel about the idea.

The Wyoming High School Activities Association’s Southeast Wyoming District approved the plan last week. Now the proposal will be brought before the rest of the WHSAA. The games would be played Nov. 10-11.

“We’ll send out a survey asking the question: ‘Would you be interested in the University of Wyoming hosting the state championship game?’ We’ll go from there and see what the feedback is,” WHSAA associate commissioner Trevor Wilson said.
