WASHINGTON-
With all the changes in restrictions on carryon luggage over the past month, it's hard to know what you can bring and what you can't.
So before you pack your bag, get the latest information from the Transportation Security Administration, which maintains an updated list of what's allowed and what's not at . Click on "Read Our Permitted and Prohibited Items" and then "Can I take it?" to see what's allowed on board.
The regulations are quite detailed. As of Sept. 8, you could, for example, bring up to 4 ounces of saline solution with you; prescription medicine with a name that matches the passenger's ticket; up to 5 ounces of liquid or gel low blood sugar treatment, including juice; and up to 4 ounces of nonprescription liquid medications. But regular beverages remain prohibited.
You may also now bring, as of Sept. 8, "solid cosmetics and personal hygiene items as such lipstick, lip balm and similar solids," but not "lip gels such as Carmex or Blistex" or "liquid lip glosses." Liquid mascara is also banned from carryon bags. (One way to easily sort your makeup into what's OK and what isn't–if you can squeeze it out of a tube or pour it out of a bottle, it's not allowed in your carryon.)
Also allowed on board are camcorders, cameras, laptops, cell phones and pagers.
Nail clippers and nail files are OK in your carryon; nail polish and polish remover are not.
Toothpaste, shampoo and hair conditioner are still no-nos on board, but disposable razors are OK.
Check the TSA Web site for more details and any other recent changes.
