Getting your player ready...

Longtime Denver Post sportswriter Irv Moss will be honored tonight at the Denver Press Club for his distinguished career.

Moss joined the Post in 1957 and after a two-year stint in the Army rejoined the paper in 1960. He has remained on staff since and has covered all of the city’s major professional teams as well as the local colleges. His main beats in recent years have been covering the Air Force Academy and the Rockies’ farm system.

Moss, who served a term as the Denver Press Club’s president, will be a guest bartender at the club starting at 6 p.m., and a caricature of Moss will be unveiled about 6:45 p.m.

“A lot of the people on the wall are great journalists in this area and real characters,” Moss said. “It is an honor.”
