DASH XR SPECS

When we find sunglasses that are reasonably priced and just right for getting your jog on, we’re only too happy to pass along the info. The Dash XR specs from Native Eyewear weigh just over a half-ounce and their “mastoid temple grip” keeps them secure on your face while running. The glasses come with four pairs of easily interchangeable polarized lenses-with different light-blocking qualities-that cut glare while keeping things clear. It’s like getting four pairs of glasses for one price. $125 at REI. nativeeyewear.com

WALK TALL

The best charity events wrap in a little fitness element, especially when they involve the whole family and teach kids a lesson about staying healthy and giving back to the community. The inaugural “Quest for the Test 5K Walk”benefiting the Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation fits that description perfectly. The foundation, named for Ryan, who died from the illness in August 2004 at age 24, is dedicated to spreading the word about the overlooked disorder and increasing research into its causes and cures. So taking part in the walk will raise consciousness as well as cash (and get you a T-shirt). The walk, which uses a checkerboard ribbon as a symbol, is at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, starting at the southeast side of Washington Park by Grasmore Lake. More info at questforthetest.org.

BIG GRIN

Looking good makes you smile – but then you need your smile to look good if you’re gonna use it. “Billion Dollar Smile” is a guide to all the options that are out there if you need a little whitening, straightening, cleaning, lifting or filling in. The $19.99 book, out Tuesday, is full of photos (some of smile-perfect movie stars; others of not-so-pretty mouths in need of help). It was written by Dr. Bill Dorfman from TV’s “Extreme Makeover” and is complete enough to get into sensitive issues like bad breath and bruised egos.
