Sara Evans shaped up for her appearance on the ABC reality series “Dancing With the Stars,” which debuted last week. The country singer, 35, worked out with a trainer at her Nashville home and five-day-a-week dance sessions with partner Tony Dovolani near her summer house in Salem, Ore. She detailed her workouts for a People magazine diary including: Aug. 9 – “For one, (Dovolani) does not want me to drink at all. At all! And I’ll let my body go through the wringer, but I have a hard time sacrificing a beer or a glass of wine at night.” … Aug. 15 – “Certain muscles of mine have been awakened that have been sleeping for a long time” … Aug. 19 – “My aching abs! At home the kids just wanted to jump into my arms. They don’t get it that mom’s abdomen hurts so bad she can’t even raise her arms.”
Sean Penn spoke publicly for the first time last week, on “Larry King Live,” about his younger brother Chris’ death. Explaining his brother’s unexpected Jan. 24 death, Sean said, “The problem was weight. (Chris) had certainly been a fantastically self-abusing guy over periods of his life, but that wasn’t the case in the end.” Chris Penn weighed 300 pounds and the 40-year-old actor’s official cause of death was an enlarged heart, a coroner ruled. Sean Penn, 46, noted: “I mean, it was a natural death. But a natural death that was brought on by some hard living, but particularly weight.”
