De Beque, Colo. – A rock slide Saturday on Interstate 70 in De Beque Canyon killed a person in a semitrailer and shutdown the eastbound lanes of the highway, officials said.
The slide happened about 9:15 p.m. about six miles west of De Beque, about 185 miles west of Denver, Colorado Department of Transportation spokesman Fritz Homann said.
Trooper Gilbert Mares of the Colorado State Patrol said a person was killed, though it was unclear whether it was a driver of a passenger of the vehicle.
Traffic was being rerouted through the area, Homann said.
