EchoStar Communications Corp. said today that
Vice Chairman Carl Vogel has been appointed president effective
immediately, taking responsibility for operations of its satellite
television service, the Dish Network.

Vogel filled the position that had been left open since February when
Michael A. Neuman resigned as president and chief operating officer.

Vogel, a former head of Charter Communications, has been concentrating on
financial and strategic issues since he rejoined EchoStar in May 2005. He
previously worked for companies that are affiliated with Liberty Media
Corp., John Malone’s Englewood-based media holding company.

EchoStar spokeswoman Kathie Gonzales said additional details about the
appointments will be provided during the next earnings report and
conference call with analysts. No date has been announced.

“We are very fortunate Carl has assumed this critical leadership role at
EchoStar,” Charlie Ergen, EchoStar’s chairman and chief executive officer,
said in a statement. “His extensive knowledge of the industry in general,
and EchoStar in particular, will strengthen our company and allow us to
continue delivering high-quality programming to our more than 12 million
subscribers.”

EchoStar also named Bernard Han as chief financial officer,
replacing David Rayner, who will become executive vice president
overseeing national installation and service network operations.

The change will take effect next week.
