Aurora – A crane operator was injured this morning when a crane he was operating collapsed at the Fitzsimons medical campus.

The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to University Hospital for treatment. There were no other injuries reported.

The 150-foot crane left a wide debris field when it collapsed at 9:17 a.m. according to Aurora fire Capt. Michael Ackman.

The crane was operating at 12631 E. 17th Ave., where the new administration building is being built for University Hospital.

Authorities are investigating what caused the crane to collapse.
