Two kittens born at the Table Mountain Animal Center with missing portions of their back legs need special homes.
Dan and Taffy are a few months old and get around well despite their handicaps, said Ben Drotar, the center’s marketing director.
Dan lacks the bottom half of both of his back legs up to his elbow, but Drotar said, “He walks around normally.”
Since Dan climbs more than he jumps, the center will provide the adoptive family with a special stairs so he can get to high places.
His sister Taffy is missing part of one back leg, and moves normally on three legs, Drotar said.
The two plus a normal brother were born to a rescued mother. Drotar said the mom and brother have been adopted.
“These two,” Drotar said of Dan and Taffy, “might have had other issues that would make them unadoptable, but we put them in foster homes and let them grow up and they are perfect.”
Both have been spayed and neutered. The Table Mountain Animal Center is located at 4105 Youngfield Service Road, in Golden, which is reached by the West 32nd Avenue exit off of Interstate 70.
